On Friday, May 19, 2017, we welcomed two new franchise owners and one general manager to the ASP family. They completed 100 hours of training during ASP’s Pool School program. Congratulations!

Mario Arevalo, Owner & Operator of ASP in Weston, Florida

Mario was accompanied by Juan Fernandez, the General Manager of the ASP Weston franchise. They will provide professional pool service in Weston, Southwest Ranches, Pembroke Pines, Davie, Sunrise, Andytown, Cooper City, and Plantation, FL.

Mario was born in Nicaragua and moved to the United States when he was seven years old. He grew up in Miami, Florida, and enlisted in the United States Army upon graduating high school. After seven years in the military, Mario decided to pursue a career as a certified firefighter and paramedic. Since 2008 has worked as a firefighter for the Miami Fire-Rescue Department. Mario has a passion for serving his community which has led him to follow his dream of business ownership. An ASP franchise gives Mario the freedom to own a business while continuing to serve as a firefighter.

Caleb Daulton, Owner & Operator of ASP in St. Petersburg, Florida

Caleb was born and raised in the small town of Shelbyville, Indiana. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and has served for the past 14 years. Caleb also has a background in aircraft maintenance and nursing. His desire to start a business has been influenced by other business owners, like his father. Shane Lawson, Owner/Operator of America’s Swimming Pool Company in Pensacola, Florida, was recognized with an award for Best New Start at ASP’s annual event. The Pensacola franchise location is one of 15 new ASP locations across the Nation that opened their businesses in 2016.

Lawson started as an ASP franchise owner exactly one-year ago, but he never expected to stumble upon an opportunity to become an owner in the pool industry. After many years of working in plumbing and engineering, Lawson knew ASP was the logical next step in his career. It didn’t take long to discover this was a perfect fit for him and his family.

ASP – America’s Swimming Pool Company announced the winner of the company’s Franchise of the Year for 2016. Clint Rowley, Owner/Operator of America’s Swimming Pool Company in Mesa, Ariz, was honored to be the recipient of this award when it was announced during the 10th annual ASP Owners Meeting in January 2017.

Five franchises were selected as a finalist for this special award and Rowley was chosen to be recognized as Franchise of the Year based on his time as an ASP franchise owner, his business’s total yearly sales, the ability to shine through the competition, and involvement in his community and the franchise organization.

Rowley contributes his success to the dedicated employees that make up Mesa’s team of qualified pool professionals. “It was flattering and humbling to receive this award,” said Rowley. “I am proud of the honest and hardworking team we have built. This team is what has helped the Mesa location lead a path to success.”

The theme at the ASP annual event was 2017-Going from Good to GREAT, and there is no doubt that Rowley, and his team, exemplifies this keynote. Rowley first joined as an ASP franchise owner in 2012. His sales records have continued to accelerate in one of the most competitive swimming pool industry markets in the United States. Because of Rowley’s dynamic skills in sales, he was asked to lead a sales breakout during the ASP annual event. Rowley’s compelling personality makes him easily respected as a leader in the ASP franchise family.

In addition to Rowley’s leadership skills mentioned above, he is also a member of the ASP Franchise Advisory Council, Panel of Pros, and is a member of the Founders Club, which represents ASP franchise locations accomplishing over $1 million in sales.

America’s Swimming Pool Company – or ASP as we are commonly called – held its 2017 State of the Union meeting and seminar in Savannah, Georgia. Stewart Vernon, the founder and CEO of ASP, hosted the event, which was attended by ASP franchise owners and key members of the ASP family. This meeting is packed minute-to-minute with incredible speakers and business-changing information.

What is the ASP State of the Union?

The main goal of the State of the Union is to let franchisees know that ASP is healthy and focused on continual growth. Mr. Vernon pointed out early on in the seminar that ASP was just as interested in investing back into its own brand as the franchisees should be in investing in ASP – success depends on everyone! In a “1+1=3” business model philosophy, every single party involved is just as important as the next and acknowledges that they all benefit from being together. Part of this goal is achieved by putting the “best and brightest” professionals in the corporate offices to support the franchisees who act as the face of the company to customers.

Graham and his family relocated from England to Florida, where he began looking for an opportunity to leverage his experience in business and human resources that would also allow him to get back in front of customers.

ASP- America’s Swimming Pool Company continues their nationwide expansion, with their farthest expansion reaching into California. ASP is the largest and most recognized swimming pool maintenance and repair company.

“Our recent expansion into the state of California is one of the largest milestones for our company since inception” says Stewart C. Vernon, Founder and CEO of ASP. “As our brand has grown over the years, so has our ability to reinvest back in to our systems and processes, allowing our new franchise owners access to a system that is unmatched in our industry.”

In April 2016 new franchise owners from Fresno, CA, Chatsworth, CA, Galveston, TX, and Raleigh, NC visited the ASP Franchising headquarters in Macon, GA, for Pool School. ASP’s Pool School is a 12-day, hands-on franchise training program to help new owners successfully start their business. While at Pool School, franchise owners learned about every aspect of their business from technical support to marketing and bookkeeping.

“After over 30 years of owning my own pool business, I converted to ASP because I liked the idea of being in a business that offers more backing and support,” said Jack Carter, Owner of ASP Fresno and ASP Chatsworth.

MACON, Georgia– ASP – America’s Swimming Pool Company recently announced the winner of their veterans program. The program, launched on Veterans Day 2015, was designed to honor the service given to our country with the awarding of a free pool maintenance franchise. The winner, Miguel Macias, will open his franchise in Reno, Nevada, this coming April.

“As a thank you for the service rendered to our country, ASP is committed to honoring our nation’s veterans by awarding one free pool service franchise each year to a qualified veteran,” said Stewart Vernon, Founder & Chief Executive Officer or ASP. “Though the program just launched in 2015, we are excited to have our first winner, and welcome Macias to the franchising family. We are thankful for the service he has given to our country and know that the skills he learned in the course of that service will prove beneficial in his new endeavor as an ASP owner.”

Macias served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years, 13 of which were spent serving as an HR officer. After being stationed all over the world, Macias retired as a Lieutenant Commander in 2015. When deciding what to do after retirement, he discussed the ASP opportunity with a friend and former ASP employee and was impressed by the comprehensive program they provide. From his military experience, Macias learned leadership, responsibility, and resourcefulness; skills that will directly translate to his work as an ASP pool service franchise owner.

According to Macias, his most remembered military moment was when America was attacked on September 11, 2001. At the time, he was working on a Navy destroyer pier-side in Norfolk, VA. After watching the news coverage of the event on TV, the crew was told to get the ship ready to deploy with no further instructions about where they were going or for how long. The crew busily prepared the ship and ended up patrolling in the New York/Boston area.

Before military service, Macias earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston in management information systems and Italian studies. He also attended the school again while in the service and earned his MBA in Human Resources. Navy service is second nature to the Macias family as his wife is a retired Navy nurse and their oldest daughter is currently serving in the Navy.

Many veterans have a hard time during the transition process from serving in the military to becoming a civilian as military skills are hard to translate directly into business skills. However, the military does prepare you to have the confidence to start something new and make business decisions. Macias says he is “thrilled, excited, and grateful to the team for selecting me. I am very humbled and very blessed to have this gift, and excited to get going!”

Though the Macias family has only been in Reno a matter of months, they are excited about their new home and love the active lifestyle that residents lead. Macias hopes that as swimming season draws near that his ASP pool maintenance franchise will be the go to company for the residents of Reno.
