Stories from successful ASP franchisees.

America’s Swimming Pool Company is proud to introduce its 100th franchise owner, Jim Green. As a new owner and operator, he is excited to serve Sterling, Virginia area pool owners with the industry-leading service for which ASP is so well known. Green is already busy leading his team in providing first class pool cleaning programs, pool maintenance, equipment repairs, and pool renovations for commercial and residential pools under the trusted ASP name. With his transition to ASP franchise ownership happening at the very beginning of swim season, he was ready to get to work right away and is already enjoying his full schedule serving local pool owners.

Learning from a Hands-on Role Model

When you ask someone where they are from and they give you a long list of states all over the U.S., you can bet they’re from a military family. Green’s father served in the Navy, so although he calls Michigan his home state, he had the experience of moving around the country during his younger years. After Green’s father’s finished his service in the Navy, he owned a successful home construction business. When he started researching swimming pool routes for sale Green knew it would be the type of business that matched his strengths, because he grew up watching his father serve his country and work with his hands. All of this experience helped Green develop the same kinds of talents as his father. Whether his dad was taking care of projects around the house or working on the family’s cars, Green watched and learned and now has a knack for his own for hands-on work.

“I have always looked up to my dad. He taught me so much about hard work and what it means to serve other people. He’s my role model and my inspiration for the direction I’m going by taking on ownership of a reputable pool cleaning franchise,” says Green.

ASP Franchise Opportunity Allows Veteran to Serve Again

Green followed in his father’s footsteps and spent eight years serving our country in the Navy himself. He became a lieutenant and served mostly in California and Virginia, but also had the chance to see many different peoples, cultures, and parts of the world throughout his military service. One of the things he enjoyed most was getting to experience the various walks of life in the Pacific, the Mediterranean, and Scandinavia.

ASP gives veterans who are interested in swimming pool routes for sale the opportunity to be their own boss and still have access to the tools and support they need to be successful. The company is well-known for the incentives and benefits it offers its veteran franchise owners; in 2018 it was ranked 81st out of the top 150 franchises for veterans by Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500®. ASP highly values the traits and skills possessed by current and former members of the military. They have proven to translate well to successful franchise ownership because those who serve our country are devoted, selfless, and hard working.

Franchise Ownership With a Reliable Brand

Green went on to work in the telecommunications, pharmacy, and health information technology industries. Even during his time spent in the military and the corporate sector, he always held onto the dream of owning his own business. When he researched swimming pool service companies and found ASP, he knew it would be the right fit for him. Green explains, “Becoming an entrepreneur has always been a dream of mine. I knew I wanted a franchise with a proven track record of success, and ASP’s business model was something I could get on board with.” He also likes the strong reputation ASP has for being a reliable pool service brand that both consumers and franchisees can trust. ASP’s swimming pool routes for sale have provided unrivaled opportunities for those interested in running their own business.

ASP’s history of success is part of what draws many of its franchise owners. For the past 6 years, ASP has consistently been part of Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500® list. The company was also recently named among the Top 10 franchises on Forbes Magazine’s list of America’s Best Franchises to Buy in 2019. In the category of businesses with a cost of entry under $150,000, America’s Swimming Pool Company ranked number 8, ahead of 3,300 other companies that were considered.

Rising Above the Competition

Taking on a business of your own can often be an intimidating experience that forces you to learn from your mistakes. But with America’s Swimming Pool Company, franchisees don’t have to worry about the stress of starting out on their own. ASP provides constant support, resources, and continuous training to its franchise owners because it believes in focusing on successfully building each individual franchise.

Green did his homework to find swimming pool routes for sale by a company that would allow him to hit the ground running. His schedule is already filled with serving customers who enjoy the professional, reliable service they have grown to expect from ASP. Green says, “One of the things I really like about ASP is its reputation for its professionalism. I love that I get to be part of a company that customers know they can trust to do the job right the first time.”

Another aspect of ASP’s service that drew Green’s attention was the way it uses technology to guarantee customer satisfaction. ASP utilizes PoolOps® as a digital platform for recording and tracking all the services it provides. Each time an ASP team takes care of a pool, the owner gets an email detailing the time of service, chemical test results, and a photo of the freshly cleaned pool.

Green plans on making the most of his business venture by focusing on meeting the needs of his clients. He says, “My team and I will always put our customers first. Listening to what they’re looking for is key to making the business relationship work well.” ASP pool service teams create an individualized care plan for each of their customers to ensure they get the exact service they need.

Swimming Pool Routes for Sale With Top-Rated Franchisee Satisfaction

One way you can know whether a business opportunity is right for you is to find out about the experiences of other franchise owners. Are they happy with the way things are going? Or are they struggling to find the resources and support they need to grow and be successful? Green learned quickly that ASP’s pool cleaning franchise owners have a high rate of satisfaction. Just by reading the testimonials on the ASP website, it was obvious to Green that other owners were having positive experiences.

According to a recent poll by the Franchise Business Review, ASP has one of the top ratings in the country for franchisee satisfaction. One such encouraging testimonial came from ASP franchise owners Chad and Paige Fulk of Charlotte, North Carolina. Taking advantage of ASP swimming pool routes for sale earned them the 2014 Franchise of the Year Award and the 2014 President’s Club Award. They explain:

“Working with ASP Franchising has taken the unknowns out of starting our own business. The information, support, and advice this franchise company offers have been a tremendous asset. They are always available to answer questions, from simple bookkeeping issues to giving advice on the buy-out of an existing pool company. This doesn’t even include their assistance in solving mechanical issues! Pool cleaning and maintenance is just a part of owning an ASP franchise. Having ASP there to help with the operations side of the business is like having that secret tool that the competition doesn’t have.”

Serving the Community

As ASP’s 100th franchise owner, Jim Green is eager to serve and fulfill the needs of pool owners in the communities in and around Sterling, Virginia. His time spent in the Navy and his current involvement in his church have helped lay the groundwork for his desire to work in the service industry. He and his team plan to give their clients the attention they deserve for all of their pool care needs. Finding swimming pool routes for sale through ASP has allowed Green to open the door to a new income opportunity while providing quality service at the same time.

Opportunity for Expansion

Swimming pool care is one of the fastest-growing industries in the nation. There are 11 million pools in the country and the number of pool owners is always on the rise. Every pool needs year-round maintenance and cleaning, regardless of the weather. Green looks forward to seeing what the future holds for his new business. With the company’s 65 percent year-over-year rate of growth, there are so many ways to expand with ASP.

America’s Swimming Pool Company recently welcomed a new franchise owner in one of its strongest markets in the nation. Rod Yacovetta is now the proud owner and operator of ASP Sonoran, which will serve pool owners in the South Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Arizona area. Yacovetta comes from a background in technology and real estate. After spending more than 20 years providing IT and computer system support to large companies, he has spent the last 10 years working mostly in the real estate and property management sectors. So, how does a computer whiz with real estate skills become a swimming pool franchise owner?

Franchise Success from the Beginning

Yacovetta says, “In the real estate industry I was frequently asked whether I knew of a good pool cleaning or refurbishing company. That got me thinking, why would I want to push all that business elsewhere? So we started looking more seriously into the advantages of starting a pool business.”

What he found is the pool industry in his area is very strong with a lot of potential for growth. Yacovetta saw ASP franchise ownership as a great opportunity that he could pursue in addition to the work he was already doing. Many of his real estate clients would have a need for pool services as well, and instead of recommending another business for the job, he can now meet those needs with his own pool service franchise

After researching about ASP and liking everything he learned, Yacovetta took the next steps and met his new team. From there, he says the decision to officially join America’s Swimming Pool Company was a “no brainer.” He then focused on making sure the financial aspects all made sense and felt comfortable. When everything felt right and lined up for him, he was ready to jump on board and begin his training at ASP Pool School.

How ASP Invests in its Franchise Owners

ASP knows that the success of its franchise owners starting a pool business translates directly to the success of the company as a whole. Rod Yacovetta has been able to benefit from ASP’s unrivaled support firsthand. He says,

“I think the biggest challenge in any industry is whether you get the support you need from the parent company or franchise group. From the very beginning, the support we have had from ASP is great. All our questions have been answered, and when we need help or have a question we always get a phone call or an email back. We’re very excited to keep moving forward because of the support we’ve had so far with ASP.”

ASP understands how hard it can be to take that leap of faith when you become a business owner. That’s why we provide all the tools and support our franchisees need to feel confident from the start. The resources we offer surpass those of other companies and allow you to jump right in to a profitable franchise instead of spending the first few months after starting a pool business trying to figure things out yourself. We provide:

  • Turnkey Systems: Our proven business models are at your fingertips. ASP utilizes a state-of-the-art digital platform called PoolOps® to streamline communication with customers.
  • Extensive Training and Support: Our franchisees never have a question that goes unanswered. We supply all of the education you need to confidently take care of your new pool service franchise.
  • Marketing Strategies: Take advantage of our brand’s strength in the pool industry. ASP’s marketing strategies and unsurpassed service have created a name consumers know and trust.
  • More Buying Power: We benefit from partnerships with national companies to give our franchisees lower costs on resources and pool supplies.

 Getting Started With ASP

ASP was recently named by Forbes Magazine as one of the Top 10 low-cost franchises to buy in 2019. Our franchisee satisfaction is also highly rated. Getting to know and hear the stories of other pool franchise owners helps new entrepreneurs like Yacovetta reaffirm they’ve made the right choice with ASP. Here’s what Wayne Gable, owner of ASP Mobile, Alabama has to say about starting a pool business with ASP:

“I truly enjoy working with the ASP leadership and my business has grown every year I’ve owned it. I began my franchise ownership with many years’ experience in business, but none as an owner. Fortunately, the decision to join the ASP family has been both rewarding and profitable! I look forward to many more years as an ASP franchisee.”

Not only does ASP give its customers exceptional service, but it also goes the extra mile to make sure its franchisees are happy. Our owner satisfaction comes directly from ASP’s comprehensive support and resources available to our franchisees. Whether you have no experience with pool maintenance or you have spent years in the industry already, your franchise will benefit from having access to complete and ongoing support systems. Starting a Pool Business With Strong Sales

Arizona is one of the top pool industry markets in the U.S. About 1 of every 3 homes has a swimming pool, and in Yacovetta’s territory, it is estimated that there are 17,000 to 20,000 pools. Owning a pool business in a place with so many potential customers means there is an abundance of opportunity for maximizing sales. The strong local economy, year-round warm weather, and resort-style communities make the South Scottsdale area a prime location for an ASP franchise. The need for pool services like regular cleaning, maintenance, equipment repair, and renovation is in great demand and Yacovetta plans on taking full advantage of it.

Interested in owning an ASP franchise in Arizona? We currently have open markets in the Coconino, Maricopa, Mohave, Pima, Pinal, and Santa Cruz area.

Putting the ASP Customer First

Rod Yacovetta learned the importance of customer service early in his career. Providing computer support gave him the chance to help people on an individual basis, which taught him the value of the one-on-one relationship in business. He also handled IT service for large departments of companies, giving him valuable experience. Yacovetta is a strong believer that the customer is always right, and that clear communication is key to building a positive relationship with each of his clients. Starting a pool business with that kind of customer service perspective will give him a leg up over competitors.

“You can never do too much for your customers,” says Yacovetta. “If you treat them fairly and communicate with them well, they will trust you and continually use your service as they think of you as a person they can always come to. I have applied that philosophy to my real estate work and I will continue to stand by it in the pool industry. My customers will always come first and foremost and I will support them to the best of my ability.”

Giving Back to the Community

ASP values each community it serves and encourages its team members to get involved. Yacovetta and his family help out with work for the Arizona Center for the Blind. They also volunteer with an organization called the Miracle League of Arizona, which gives kids and young adults the chance to play baseball, regardless of their challenges, disabilities, or special health care needs. As an avid sports fan, it’s a fulfilling opportunity that’s near and dear to Yacovetta’s heart.

Even though he is busy starting a pool business, he still enjoys his time volunteering. “I think I get more out of it than the kids do,” Yacovetta says. “Just seeing their faces gives me so much joy. All they want to do is have fun playing baseball and that’s what we are there to help them with. We make sure they’re safe while playing ball and having as much fun as they can.”

Staying Ahead of the Competition

America’s Swimming Pool Company was created to provide the very best in pool cleaning, maintenance, and refurbishing services to residential and commercial pool owners. The brand has risen above the rest because ASP stands by its high standards for professionalism and quality. Innovation plays an important role for our continued advancement in the industry as well; in 2018 Franchise Business Review named ASP a Top Innovative Franchise Brand.

ASP’s unique PoolOps® technology has given our franchises an edge on the competition because it allows them to manage and grow their business on a digital platform. Customers enjoy the system because it provides them with detailed reports on their pool service. At the same time, franchisees starting a pool business with ASP benefit from PoolOps because it gives them a convenient way to stay organized and to make sure all of their clients’ needs are being met.

 A Bright Future Ahead

Rod Yacovetta and his team are just getting started with their pool business partnership with ASP. He looks forward to seeing his real estate endeavors work hand-in-hand with his new pool service franchise. With specific goals in mind for the growth of his ASP operation, Yacovetta is planning for a bright future. About ASP Wesley Chapel, Florida Owner, Matt Kreis

Kreis spent his youth in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended the University of Toledo, where he graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He spent most of his career doing construction for air pollution control and boilers. Kreis managed many groups of engineers over the years before deciding it was time for a change. A change that would allow him to live his dream of being a business owner, and to be able to do it in paradise. It was in February of 2018 that his franchise broker presented him with the opportunity of purchasing an America’s Swimming Pool Company franchise.

“I shopped for a franchise for two years,” said Kreis. “I looked into fitness, painting, flooring, you name it. I gravitated towards residential service of some type. I used to renovate homes as a hobby and consider myself a hands-on and service oriented business man.” Kreis said that as soon as he met with the ASP team a few months later, he instantly knew he felt comfortable with the other franchise owners, and liked the ASP business model. “I like that the pool service business allows for a consistent stream of revenue with the maintenance side of the business, though I look forward to doing renovations the most, considering my construction background,” said Kreis.

I found a system that worked for me and was able to maintain crystal clear pool water.” If you are unlike Kreis, and have not maintained a pool before, you can still own a successful pool franchise. They have an annual owners meeting which is great. I was able to spend an entire day with a franchise owner and was able to see what he did on a day to day basis. It is obvious that ASP listens to its owners and provides additional information to owners.” Kreis also said he learned how to market his pool service business and was able to hear success stories from other franchise owners just like him. Franchisees walk away from pool school feeling confident in all pool industry situations and will be set up for success. ASP franchises have a 99% success rate. The knowledge that you gain at pool school is unparalleled to any other pool franchise company.

Starting a pool service business ASP, America’s Swimming Pool Company, is one of the nation’s most recognized and reputable swimming pool franchises. Franchise owners and operators specialize in pool maintenance, service, repairs, remodels, resurfacing, and more. The ASP brand allows business entrepreneurs across America to start living their dreams, without going about it alone. André Campbell of Margate, Florida, decided to dive in head first and open up ASP’s new franchise location in Coral Springs, Florida this year. Campbell is the owner and operator of ASP Coral Springs and has an extensive background in customer service and business ownership.

About André Campbell

Campbell has lived most of his life in Jamaica and Florida. He attended Florida State University, where he studied International Business. Campbell went on to own an Auto and Home Insurance agency, where he quickly learned that he enjoyed customer service and had a talent for it. He says he thrives in a system based business and in helping to make customers happy. After four years of ownership in the insurance agency, Campbell, who loves reading and traveling, felt he needed a change and found a pool service business that would suit his dreams.

“Auto and home insurance agencies are getting more difficult every year because people can buy their own insurance online. They don’t need people anymore,” said Campbell.  “Pools still need hands on labor. Pool owners have to have service done on their pools somehow, someway, or at some point.” Campbell says he was looking for a franchise system that would allow him to grow quickly, and with the help of a franchise broker, he was presented the opportunity with America’s Swimming Pool Company. A choice he immediately knew would set him up for success.

Five Strengths That André Campbell Brings to ASP

During Campbell’s past employment, he has learned that superior customer service and showing a genuine care for customers can go a long way. He plans to implement five of his developed business strengths as he starts his ASP pool service business in Coral Springs. “Number one, I’ve always believed in giving excellent service,” he said. “Number two, always answer the phones and be available for customers. Number three, respond to customers within 24 hours maximum. I followed that model with my insurance agency and plan to take it here. Number four, provide value and education to the customer. Number five, be reasonable with your pricing and follow up with customers after service. Thank them for their referrals, call them back, and be in touch with them.”  Executives at America’s Swimming Pool Company feel that his five business strengths will serve him well in his venture with ASP in Coral Springs.

Why Coral Springs, Florida

Florida is known as the Orange State and the Sunshine State. Both nicknames scream warmth and summer time. In Florida, it is pool weather almost year-round, and pool owners want to have crystal clear and safe swimming water in all seasons. The hot and humid weather in the summer requires precise and regular pool service, while the winter months also have residential pool owners demanding clean swimming pool water from pool service businesses. Coral Springs has a sturdy business market that is continuing to grow strong. The Chamber of Commerce in Coral Springs, Florida, provides its members with every opportunity to grow their business through business building initiatives, visibility, and credibility. When ASP franchise owners get both a great Chamber of Commerce and ASP’s support in their corner, they have what is needed in order to be successful.

  • The Website and Technology fee is $350 per month.

The financial requirement to start an ASP franchise is $150,000 in net worth and $100,000 in liquid cash. ASP also offers veteran incentives which consist of a 15% off franchise fee. This amounts to about $5,400 off a franchise fee for a veteran. America’s Swimming Pool Company is able to beat the competition in Coral Springs, Florida by offering affordable pricing and reliable service. Coral Springs does have some individual pool service businesses, but they have lacked a nation-wide brand name, until ASP entered the territory. ASP is proud to be offering better pool service to residents of Coral Springs.

5 Successful Personality Traits

Do you have what it takes to succeed in the franchise world?

Franchisees who experience the greatest level of success and fulfillment in their business are those that choose a business venture that coordinates with their true personalities. See how you match up to these top 5 personality traits of successful franchise owners.

  1. Strong Work Ethic – For your franchise business to reach its full potential, it must have a strong business model, and the franchisee must have a strong work ethic. Running a franchise business is hard work. The owner must be committed to following the franchise model and delivering exceptional customer service, especially in the first year. If the franchise organization has a strong business model, you will be successful, but it is up to you to make this happen.
  2. Financially Stable – Successful franchise owners know how much they can invest, how much they are willing to risk, and how much they need for living expenses until their franchise is turning a profit. Before buying a franchise, make sure you have enough money. A good franchise organization should offer accounting and bookkeeping training in addition to ongoing support. *Remember to look for a scalable business opportunity – a low-cost franchise opportunity that can provide you with more money to fund the operational items that drive sales and cash flow.
  3. Coachable – If you’re looking to open a franchise it’s probably because you are entrepreneurial, but starting from scratch sounds a bit intimidating, right? There is comfort in knowing you can have the dream of business ownership while being a part of a brand with a proven system and process. Choose a franchise organization that is invested in your success by making sure you have the proper tools and resources needed to help your franchise grow. The most significant reward in owning a franchise business is the franchisor’s industry business experience, so don’t be afraid to ask for advice or to reach out for help as your business grows. *If you’re new to the industry (or not), look for a franchise organization with a comprehensive training program.
  4. Trustworthy – You do the research to find the perfect franchise fit, but before signing franchise agreements, the franchisor wants to make sure you are the most qualified franchisee to represent the brand. Have an open and clear understanding of your goals, and the franchisor should be honest and upfront about what it will take to reach your goals. This type of communication should not end at the initial meet and greet but carried on throughout your time as an owner. Communication and a healthy franchisor-franchisee relationship is the foundation of a successful franchise business. Franchisors want to know they are awarding a franchise to someone they can trust to execute the brand they have spent years developing and perfecting. *Attend a “Meet the Team” day at franchise headquarters and talk to other franchise owners.
  5. Passionate – Sharing your passion for the brand and the business starts with understanding and relating to the core values and culture as the franchise organization. Doing what you love and living with passion is guaranteed to give you fulfillment and joy in everything you do and is something that will never go unnoticed by your customers.

“Give franchisees the support they need to be successful on an individual level and keep the focus on their success,” said Stewart C. Vernon, Founder and CEO of ASP – America’s Swimming Pool Company.

At ASP, our goal is to help you go into business for yourself and reach your full potential as a business owner. We want to see you grow beyond your expectations!

Herschel Forester, Owner and Operator of America’s Swimming Pool Company (ASP) in Dallas, Texas, received Top Sales Award for 2016.

The Dallas franchise location has been ranked number one in sales for four consecutive years. It was announced this year that Forester and his team of 10 employees exceeded the $2 million mark for 2016.

“We have a team of dedicated, hardworking folks that make our business go,” said Forester.  “I have enjoyed having my wife, Cindy, work with us for the past couple of years. I am also proud of our pool renovation department that is very productive under Darren Kesler’s leadership.”

Reaching these goals has been a great accomplishment for the Dallas team.

Forester launched the Dallas location in 2010 by converting his previously self-employed pool business to an ASP franchise. Converting his business has been a significant factor in his growth, along with the counsel from both the Founder and Vice President of the franchise organization.

“We are proud of Herschel’s accomplishments and his ability to surpass sales expectations every year,” said Vernon. “This Owners Meeting encouraged owners to take their businesses from good to great, and that’s what Herschel and his team strive to accomplish every day in his business.”

Shane Lawson, Owner/Operator of America’s Swimming Pool Company in Pensacola, Florida, was recognized with an award for Best New Start at ASP’s annual event. The Pensacola franchise location is one of 15 new ASP locations across the Nation that opened their businesses in 2016.

“I am honored to receive this award and look forward to many years of growth,” said Lawson. “I attribute this first-year success to my grandfather, who was

also a small business owner. I often think about the strong work ethic he instilled in me, and that’s what drives me to work harder and go the extra mile for my customers and my business.”

Lawson started as an ASP franchise owner exactly one-year ago, but he never expected to stumble upon an opportunity to become an owner in the pool industry. After many years of working in plumbing and engineering, Lawson knew ASP was the logical next step in his career. It didn’t take long to discover this was a perfect fit for him and his family.

“Shane received recognition because of his commitment to go beyond expectations during his first year in business,” said Stewart C. Vernon, Founder and CEO of America’s Swimming Pool Company. “We are looking forward to watching his continued success.”

Ryan Eiland, Owner/Operator of the ASP franchise location in Destin, FL, has also been a tremendous support to Lawson as a business partner and a friend. Eiland’s expertise as a veteran in the ASP business has helped Lawson accomplish his first-year goals.

Meet Jon Lutz, Owner/Operator of America’s Swimming Pool Company located in Palm Harbor, FL. Jon and his fiancé, Carrie Limoges, have been operating the ASP location in Palm Harbor since March 2016.

Jon has worked and has held ownership in a few different service industry businesses for the past 18 years, so he knew he wanted to start a business in the service industry. While living in Charleston, SC, Jon found out about ASP and about the opportunities to become a franchise owner. After discovering the support and training that ASP Franchising offered, it was a “no-brainer” decision for Jon.

“The most beneficial aspect about joining an ASP franchise is having the support and wealth of knowledge from corporate and other franchise owners. There is always someone who will have an answer,” said Jon. “I also enjoy the connections I have been able to make due to being a part of a franchise. These connections would have taken a lot longer on my own.”

Jon and Carrie are off to a great start as new franchise owners. Jon’s advice to franchising candidates would be to make sure they are ready to be responsible for their own successes or failures. An ASP franchise provides a lot of support when starting the new business, but it is always important to remember that effort must be put in to become successful.

Most ASP franchise owners are not too familiar with the pool business until they come to Pool School, a two-week training course each new franchisee goes through at corporate headquarters. Jon and Carrie entered Pool School in November 2015 to familiarize themselves with the pool industry and the franchise. Jon’s focus for 2016 has been to spend his time learning the pool business and getting comfortable with it. Jon plans for the bigger goals he wants to accomplish for his business and breaks the larger goals into smaller, short-term goals. He then pushes to reach those smaller goals, so he can achieve his bigger, overall goal.

“I like the fact that I am building something while still allowing myself the flexibility to live life the way I enjoy,” said Jon. “If you don’t mind working and getting your hands dirty, then this is by far the best business.”
