Looking to start a franchise business? Read this first.
Business ownership is the American dream and franchising is appealing to those entrepreneurs wanting to make their next move, but don’t want the risk that comes with starting a business on their own. There are hundreds of franchise opportunities out there, so finding the right one can be challenging. Start by narrowing the field so you can achieve your dreams of business ownership success.
Ask yourself these questions first:
- What are my personal goals?
- What do I like to do?
- What am I good at?
- How much money can I afford to invest?
Next, ask these questions for each franchise you have selected:
- Are there territories available in my desired area?
- Is this a scalable business model?
- Does the franchise offer training and on-going support?
- What are other franchise owners saying?
Now that you know the top questions to ask yourself when choosing the right franchise for you, we want to include one more question that can be vital in your decision-making process.
Do they have a strong corporate culture?
Corporate culture is defined by the shared values, attitudes, standards, and beliefs of an organization.
“Corporate culture is rooted in an organization’s goals, strategies, structure, and approaches to labor, customers, investors, and the greater community.”
Why is this important to you? The corporate culture in franchises is often extended to the culture of your individual location.
Look for these key attributes in a franchisor:
- Strong Support System
- Great Corporate Staff
- Invested in Your Potential
Is an ASP Franchise Right for You?
Learn more about our story and our people.
It all started with one person who saw an opportunity and didn’t let anything stop him from pursuing it.
Stewart Vernon, Founder and CEO of ASP – America’s Swimming Pool Company, always knew he wanted to start a business. As a young entrepreneur, Stewart was always looking for ways to provide better services for those in need. In 2002, the semester before his college graduation, Stewart developed a business plan for a pool cleaning and repair business. His vision was to provide high-quality pool service at a reasonable price. After graduation, Stewart started a small pool service business in his hometown by searching for homes with pools in his area and directly marketing to each pool owner. His operation grew quickly and by 2005, Stewart explored the idea of franchising the business. He designed a franchise business model with low barriers to entry in mind to quickly fill a void in the swimming pool service industry. Today, the ASP – America’s Swimming Pool Company franchise has locations serving over 400 cities in 20 states across the nation.
“The beauty of the business is from day one, you can start with one man and one truck,” said Stewart. “Low overhead and low-risk.”
It wasn’t just the idea of starting a home-based business that attracted franchisees to this business model. It was the people. Just ask our franchise owners!
“After meeting the team the decision to choose ASP was easy.”
