Meet the franchise owners who recently joined the ASP family.

At 8:30 a.m. on February 6, 2017, we welcomed seven new ASP franchise owners and one new manager to the ASP – America’s Swimming Pool Company corporate headquarters in Macon, Georgia, for Pool School training.

Many ASP franchisees have little or no experience in pool cleaning before getting their start, so Pool School is a two-week comprehensive training course every franchise owner completes before launching their business. This system gives these new owners the confidence they need to be successful in their business from day one.

Here are their stories.

Nick Carver, ASP Owner

“I enjoy making people happy and building a business I truly believe in.”

Nick is originally from Covington, Tennessee, and made his move to the gulf coast early this year. He relocated with his wife, Ashley, and their two young children to Panama City, Florida, to start his new journey as a business owner.  For the past six years, Nick has been the lead singer and guitarist for a band called the Nick Carver Band. Bringing happiness to his clients and audience through his musical services has been a great reward for Nick, and he wants his pool service customers to experience that same satisfaction when enjoying their clean swimming pool.

Cody Blair, ASP owner

“I’ve noticed a connection in my previous work and the work I am doing now. Take care of your people, and you will be successful.”

Cody, a Texas native, is excited to be open for business in his home state. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Valeria, and their two daughters, who have a passion for competitive horseback riding. Cody has spent the last 12 years serving as an Aeromedical Evacuation Pilot in the United States Army. February 25, 2017, marked the day he officially transitioned from his military career and started his new journey as a business owner in the swimming pool service industry. Cody realized this business opportunity would be the best fit for his needs after seeing ASP listed as one of the top franchises in VetFran and Entrepreneur 500.

Judy Sullivan, ASP Sumter

“I was not looking to start over on my own, again. As a consumer and veteran in the swimming pool service industry, I have seen what’s out there. ASP has the structure and systems needed to be successful. Impressive programs like Pool Ops is a game changer in this industry.”

Judy was born in Pennsylvania but spent most of her life in the West. She enjoys camping, hiking, and doing anything where she can enjoy the outdoors. Judy spent 30 years as a business owner in the swimming pool service industry. She wanted to be closer to her family, so she decided to sell her business and move to the South Carolina. In the summer of 2015, she began working for the ASP franchise location in Columbia, SC. Sullivan quickly began to realize the value of ASP and being backed by a national brand.

Garner Huie, ASP owner

“I’ve always wanted to start my own business, so coming onboard with a nationally recognized brand and being able to pull from my own experiences makes this a complete package.”

Garner is excited about developing an ASP location in his hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee. Prior to joining ASP, Garner spent his career working for a large multi-specialty medical management company. His previous career moved him to different locations across Tennessee and Georgia. Garner is now able to spend his time building a business he is proud of and enjoying more time at home with his family.

Cobus van Rooyan, ASP owner

“There is a certain culture in the pool industry that I love, and that influenced me to take the next step in my career and go from pool service employee to pool service business owner.”

Cobus decided it was time to take a leap of faith. His biggest challenge was selling his home in South Africa and making the decision to start a new life for him and his family in the United States. He uses his experience in the pool industry, customer service skills, and enjoyment for what he does to set his business apart.

Brit Jordan, ASP owner

“I come from a family of franchise owners, so I knew what to look for when searching for the right business opportunity.”

The Jordan’s have already proven success as franchise owners. Brit Jordan will be the owner/operator of the ASP location in Rock Hill, South Carolina, while his wife, Ashley Jordan, is the owner/operator of their Sport Clips franchise location. Brit has a background in music business and experience in outside sales. He holds a strong sense of knowledge in marketing, sales, and business operations. The Jordan’s currently reside in Rock Hill with their son, Bennett, and will be expecting their second child this summer.

Tom Nelson, ASP owner

“After my retirement from the Marine Corps, I realized right now is a good time to build a business.”

Tom was born in Maryland and raised in Indiana. He currently resides in Stafford, Virginia with his wife Lisa, and they have three children. Tom spent a lot of time researching business opportunities ranging from home inspection to fast food service. He learned about ASP – America’s Swimming Pool Company from James King, the owner of ASP in Springfield, Virginia. James is a friend of Tom’s from their service together in the Marine Corps. Tom already dove into the pool business experience prior to coming to the ASP corporate location in Macon, Georgia, for his two-weeks of training. Tom visited James’ location in Springfield and John Inglett’s location in Warrenton, Virginia, to get a basic understanding of the business.
