24-year Navy veteran and ASP franchise owner, Miguel Macias, is pictured in this publication by Franchising USA. Miguel became the first ASP business owner to have his full franchise fee waived by the ASP Veteran Program.

ASP Franchising is the corporate headquarters for America’s Swimming Pool Company, the nation’s largest swimming pool service franchise. The team at ASP franchising noticed many veterans were curious about business ownership and started showing interest in their swimming pool franchise. In 2015, the franchising team set out to form a veteran program franchise giveaway as a way to honor our nation’s heroes. Each year ASP will award one franchise to a qualified military veteran on Veterans Day. In addition to this exclusive giveaway, all qualified veterans who purchase a franchise receive a 15% discount on the initial franchise fee.

Many military veterans possess the skills needed to be great franchises such as commitment, trustworthiness, and unmatched determination to succeed. ASP wants to aid in unlocking that potential and help countless veterans realize their dream of business ownership.

On the franchisee side, ASP boasts a comprehensive training program and a strong support system.

For 11 days from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m, franchisees attend ASP’s Pool School on its campus in Macon, which features  14 working pools that have every kind of pool equipment conceivable.

At Pool School, in addition to the hands-on maintenance training, franchisees receive instruction in every aspect of running a business from marketing to billing to running QuickBooks.

Along with a local marketing team, the company has a national PR firm that supports franchisees, plus staff at headquarters who handle technical questions from franchisees throughout the day.

Stewart Vernon, Founder and CEO of America’s Swimming Pool Company (ASP) explains the reasons behind the success of an ASP franchisee.

Vernon, a lifelong entrepreneur, started a car washing business by the age of 15. By the week of his college graduation, Vernon founded a pool service business that is now known as America’s Swimming Pool Company

ASP’s Franchise Location in Pensacola Recognized with Award for Best New Start

Shane Lawson, Owner/Operator of America’s Swimming Pool Company in Pensacola, Florida, was recognized with an award for Best New Start at ASP’s annual event. The Pensacola franchise location is one of 15 new ASP locations across the Nation that opened their businesses in 2016.

“I am honored to receive this award and look forward to many years of growth,” said Lawson. “I attribute this first-year success to my grandfather, who was

also a small business owner. I often think about the strong work ethic he instilled in me, and that’s what drives me to work harder and go the extra mile for my customers and my business.”

Lawson started as an ASP franchise owner exactly one-year ago, but he never expected to stumble upon an opportunity to become an owner in the pool industry. After many years of working in plumbing and engineering, Lawson knew ASP was the logical next step in his career. It didn’t take long to discover this was a perfect fit for him and his family.

America’s Swimming Pool Company Announced the Franchise of the Year for 2016

ASP – America’s Swimming Pool Company announced the winner of the company’s Franchise of the Year for 2016. Clint Rowley, Owner/Operator of America’s Swimming Pool Company in Mesa, Ariz, was honored to be the recipient of this award when it was announced during the 10th annual ASP Owners Meeting in January 2017.

Five franchises were selected as a finalist for this special award and Rowley was chosen to be recognized as Franchise of the Year based on his time as an ASP franchise owner, his business’s total yearly sales, the ability to shine through the competition, and involvement in his community and the franchise organization.

Rowley contributes his success to the dedicated employees that make up Mesa’s team of qualified pool professionals. There are 12 professionals employed at the ASP location in Mesa, including two veterans who served in the Middle East.ASP's CEO, Stewart C. “It was flattering and humbling to receive this award,” said Rowley. “I am proud of the honest and hardworking team we have built. This team is what has helped the Mesa location lead a path to success.”

The theme at the ASP annual event was 2017-Going from Good to GREAT, and there is no doubt that Rowley, and his team, exemplifies this keynote. Rowley first joined as an ASP franchise owner in 2012. His sales records have continued to accelerate in one of the most competitive swimming pool industry markets in the United States. Because of Rowley’s dynamic skills in sales, he was asked to lead a sales breakout during the ASP annual event. Rowley’s compelling personality makes him easily respected as a leader in the ASP franchise family.

In addition to Rowley’s leadership skills mentioned above, he is also a member of the ASP Franchise Advisory Council, Panel of Pros, and is a member of the Founders Club, which represents ASP franchise locations accomplishing over $1 million in sales.

Going from Good to GREAT

America’s Swimming Pool Company – or ASP as we are commonly called – held its 2017 State of the Union meeting and seminar in Savannah, Georgia. Stewart Vernon, the founder and CEO of ASP, hosted the event, which was attended by ASP franchise owners and key members of the ASP family. This meeting is packed minute-to-minute with incredible speakers and business-changing information.

What is the ASP State of the Union?

The main goal of the State of the Union is to let franchisees know that ASP is healthy and focused on continual growth. Mr. Vernon pointed out early on in the seminar that ASP was just as interested in investing back into its own brand as the franchisees should be in investing in ASP – success depends on everyone! In a “1+1=3” business model philosophy, every single party involved is just as important as the next and acknowledges that they all benefit from being together. Part of this goal is achieved by putting the “best and brightest” professionals in the corporate offices to support the franchisees who act as the face of the company to customers.

America’s Swimming Pool Company is also committed to thinking of new, innovative ways to advance the brand. Rather than staying static and content with what has already been achieved, Mr. Vernon discussed how ASP wants to develop new products and services for franchisees to offer and utilize for profit and equity. Some of the seminar’s time was designated to exploring new ideas and opportunities, as well as problem-solving issues that came to everyone’s attention in 2016. It is all part of the philosophy of “going from good to great.”

If you talk to Tom Lose of ASP Billings, he will tell you how great it is to be a business owner.

“I opened ASP Billings in March 2016 and it has been an awesome first year,” said Lose.

Lose, an Air Force veteran contributes his success to the work ethic he learned from his parents, his job at USPS, and his military background. He explains how busy he has been since becoming a business owner.

ASP Continues Growth in California

Fall 2015 was a significant time for Jack and Susie Carter, who were owners of a pool maintenance business named, All Pure Pool and Spa and co-owners of All Pure Pool Service of Central CA. They were already living in California and had been business owners for the past 30 years. They were looking for ways to expand and explore new avenues that can be touched and developed in the California area. After reading an article in Pool and Spa News, about ASP-America’s Swimming Pool Co. owners going pink for breast cancer awareness month, the Carters began researching more about ASP and the franchising system they had in place.

“We talked with Jef, VP of Franchise Sales and Development, and loved the idea of being apart of a co-op,” said Jack Carter.

In January 2016, the Carters made the decision to convert their businesses to ASP- America’s Swimming Pool Company. ASP Chatsworth has so much growth potential and the Carters are ready to see what possibilities there are. Their Chatsworth location serves areas in Los Angeles, North Hollywood, San Fernando, Ventura, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Woodland Hills, Glendale, Oxnard, and many other territories around Chatsworth. Jack Carter grew up in Oregon and Susie Carter is a native to Modesto, CA. Upon completing high school, Jack Carter spent four years in the United States Navy. After his service in the Navy, he spent 17 years working for United Parcel Service. In 1985, Navy Veteran, Jack Carter began his career in the pool business with a pool chemical franchise and then became owner of All Pure Pool and Spa. Susie Carter came into the pool business by doing office work for the company. Together they now own ASP- America’s Swimming Pool Company in Chatsworth, CA and a second location Fresno, CA.

“We have our goals set and we are ready to watch this company grow,” said Jack and Susie Carter.
